Kate Kerr, MD

About Dr. Kerr

She/Her

Dr. Kate Kerr is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, with a particular focus on adolescents and transitional-age youth. Her clinical expertise spans mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and early psychosis, with an emphasis on supporting identity development and helping young people find meaning and direction in their lives.

Dr. Kerr approaches care through a comprehensive biopsychosocial lens, integrating lifestyle factors, family systems theory, supportive and psychodynamic psychotherapy to provide nuanced, individualized treatment. She has a special interest in helping families navigate the evolving needs of their children and young adults, and works closely with both patients and their support systems to foster resilience and healing.

Originally from Pittsburgh (and a proud Steelers fan), Dr. Kerr completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, where she majored in pre-professional studies and Spanish. She earned her medical degree from Columbia University, where she deepened her commitment to working with transitional-age youth through community engagement. She completed her adult psychiatry residency at NYU and pursued subspecialty training in child and adolescent psychiatry at UCLA, with a strong focus on anxiety and mood disorders and family systems work.

Most recently, Dr. Kerr served as a staff psychiatrist in the college mental health department at USC, where she treated a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions affecting students in early adulthood.

Outside of clinical work, Dr. Kerr enjoys skiing, playing (very basic) tennis, spending quality time with friends and family, and raising her two adorable cats.
